Female Integrity
My integrity’s both a gift and a weight,
But a truth I know time will always validate.
I’m an open book, no mask to wear,
No false façades, no vacant stares
I call things out, myself included,
Whilst I may not be perfect, I am not deluded.
Some find my candour hard to bear,
Because it stirs the truth I speak, they’d rather spare.
They flinch when my honesty draws near,
Because they are afraid I’ll voice and expose what they hold dear.
I no longer fight with fists or flames,
Instead, I write to stake my claim.
My pen’s the weapon I now wield,
With my voice unbound, no longer sealed.
I won’t allow others dull or dim my light,
I will stand for the truth and speak what’s right.
I refuse to dilute my story’s flame,
Choosing what’s right over silent blame.
I use my voice to invite others to do the same,
So they can rise, to heal, to shed their shame.
If I can free one voice or stir one soul,
Then I know I have achieved my goal.
I was gagged before… but no more,
My voice and my writing echo what I stand for.
Which is integrity and doing what’s right
Especially when no one is looking
