I tried walking in your shoes for years,
Assuming that we were the perfect fit.
But over time, your shoes became a burden to bear,
Tight and pinching with every step, a constant snare.
It wasn’t until they took me down a dark path,
Where I had given up hope and had nothing to lose,
I finally decided it was time to hang up my shoes.
Over time, I forged my path, barefoot and free,
No longer bound by the weight of your demands or pleas
My journey has been rough, the terrain unknown,
But with every stride, my confidence has grown.
I’ve embraced my freedom, bit by bit,
Which allowed me to abandon your shoes that I’d once thought fit.
After carving out a destiny solely mine.
I’m no longer a prisoner to someone else’s design,
Now I walk my way, strong and sure,
With a heart that’s healed and a spirit that is pure.
I am no longer a prisoner under your spell,
But I can look back and wish you well.
But I will NEVER wear yours or anyone else’s shoes again.
Love Fordy
