We behave as though each dawn is promised
That morning light will always fall
Forgetting how one fragile heartbeat
Might never rise again at all.
We move through days half-heartedly, drifting
As if the clocks will stop and wait
We take our time for granted, trusting
We’ve always got another date.
But life is fickle, fragile, fleeting
Like a ticking clock, we cannot hear
And one lost second, one small shift
Can change the world we hold so dear.
We waste our hours on petty worries
On grudges and on pointless fear
We forget that breath is borrowed
And that every inhale whispers,
“You’re still fucking here.”
So, here’s the truth, raw and unfiltered
If you woke up today, you’re blessed
If your heart is beating steadily
You’ve been gifted one more chance to do your best.
Tell the people that you love them.
Don’t wait for life to “feel just right.”
Because those perfect moments we keep chasing
Can slip through our fingers overnight.
Wake up to the life you’re living,
Be grateful for the skin you’re in
Stop taking every day for granted
Before regret comes creeping in
Because one day — and life doesn’t say when
Your body will draw one last inhale
And you will never get to breathe again.
