You might be wondering why my smile’s not here
Truth is, she’s stepped aside to make space for the wear and tear.

The grind has been chewing at my peace of mind
Leaving no space to breathe, to rest, to unwind.

I know it’s my own doing I’ve driven myself to the brink
I’ve kept pouring out for everyone else

Never stopping just to think.

I pour out all my energy till I’m running thin
Whilst forgetting the simple act of checking in.

I’ve been running on fumes, giving all I’ve got,
and somewhere in the chaos, I let myself be forgot.

No quiet corners to sit with my thoughts
No time to mend the pieces life has torn and caught.

But I’m learning again to slow down, to see
The small things the ones inside me.

Piecing myself back, bit by stubborn bit
Reigniting the fire that refuses to quit.

And maybe soon that smile, the one you’ve missed
Will return once the weight has finally been dismissed.

So, for now let me breathe, let me just be
While I slowly write my way back to me.

Love Fordy

Disclaimer: I don’t write any of this for financial gain or applause. I write because I’ve lived it, and because I know how lonely it can feel when you’re carrying a story like this with no roadmap and no language for it. If sharing my own experience helps even one person feel a bit less isolated, a bit more understood, or a bit more steady on their feet, then that’s enough for me.

So if you fancy getting the occasional email with whatever I’ve been scribbling down, the newest blogs, the raw reflections, the bits of lived wisdom I’m still learning myself you’re welcome to subscribe at the bottom of the main page. No pressure, no weekly spam, just honest writing whenev,er I’ve actually got something worth saying.

  1. I F*@>ing love it! It’s sometimes scary reading what you write as it’s like you’ve been inside my head. You are a true inspiration.

  2. I think you have summed yourself up perfectly I just know that you can’t help it, and that is why you should have a look around the room, and i bet you could fill Sandall park with the people who with your passion and inspiration would not be here now!
7 years sober and supporting recovery month ever since, and thanks for your never ending support mentally and physically, I was able to attend my 1st ever recovery games, and what an incredible day it was
